How to Save Your WeChat Voice Messages from Android and iOS

Have a memorable WeChat Voice Message on your Android or iOS iPhone that you want to save? Perhaps it's from that special someone and you just want to listen to it over and over again. Or maybe it's an important message detailing your secret plans for world domination — whatever the case might be, there's no automated way to save your voicemails. You'll have to do a little work.

Saving WeChat Voice Messages from an Android Phone

On your Android, search for a folder named “tencent” Inside of this folder, you will find “MicroMsg” which has an alphanumeric folder inside of it that will be unique to your WeChat messages. Go inside of this folder—yes, it's a folder within a folder within a folder within a folder, which is why you probably couldn't find it until now — and look for a folder named “voice2” This is where all of your voice messages are.

You can transfer these over to your computer and open them as audio files or you can use the method described below for iOS phones (or use one of the workarounds we've listed further down the page).

Saving WeChat Voice Messages from an iPhone

From an iOS, you will need a few more items than with an Android if you want to save your WeChat voicemails:

• A USB / lightning cable line (you can get this at any Best Buy, Radio Shack or your local phone store)
• A PC or MAC with USB interface so you can connect your phone (note that this is different than an HDMI)
• Wechat extractor software for your Mac or PC (there are many ones out there that you can download, or you can purchase a higher-quality program if you desire)

When you have these three things, follow these steps:

1. Install the Wechat extractor software program onto your Mac or PC. You can download this from the Internet.

2. Plug your iPhone (or Android) into your Mac or PC via USB / lightning cable.

3. On your computer, open the program and select from "Recover From iOS Device". After the scanning has completed, select "Third Party Apps" tab and click "App Document" button, scroll down to find "tencent.xin" directory. Then double-click the directory to enter all wechat file list.

4. Click each file to preview them on the right panel, it supports photos, videos, audio files. Click the "Recover" button to save them on the PC or Mac after selecting them.

Workarounds for Recording WeChat Voice Messages

You can also try these “low-fi” options:

• Play the message directly into your computer's built-in microphone.
• Get another phone and use the audio-recording app to record your voice message as it plays on speaker phone, then email the file to yourself.

A Better Option Moving Forward

Of course, if you don't want to deal with this hassle in the future, there are much better voicemail options out there outside of your carrier. The problem with saving voicemails and audio recordings is that they live in the carrier's servers, not necessarily your phone. One great option is Google Voice, which gives you a ton of control over your messages and how you utilize them.

• Create a new txt file, input#!AMR, then press enter Key(it's important)
• Save this txt file, named head.txt
• Open the command line tool on your computer, find the head file and the Aud file path. Enter the following command:
• copy head.txt/b + xxxx.aud/b result.amr
• The result.amr will be the normal AMR file.
