Sometimes an iPhone felt just a little warmer than it should, and other times the back of the iPhone was so hot it felt like it might burn your hand. Either way, if you’ve got a hot iPhone, it means there’s something wrong.
In this article, I’ll explain why your iPhone is getting so hot and show you exactly how to fix it. Before we proceed to the solution or what to do when your iPhone is hot, let me tell you brief some of the causes.
Your iPhone is like your computer, it has a CPU that process whatever activities going on in the phone and does not have a fan like most computers. The CPU of phone or even the computer is a very powerful chip that rarely uses 5% of its capacity. Your iPhone is overheating because its CPU is used up to 100%, all the time!
An iPhone may overheat if:
----------• You leave it in a car too long when it’s too hot outside
----------• You leave it in direct sunlight for too long
----------• You use hardware-intensive features for too long, such as a graphic-intensive game or GPS
----------• Any combination of the above
----------• Heat is transferred from one heat-emitting source to another in one of three ways – conduction, convection, or radiation.
What happen after overheat:
----------• The device stops charging.
----------• The display dims or goes black.
----------• Cellular radios will enter a low-power state. The signal may weaken during this time.
----------• The camera flash is temporarily disabled.
Fixing the problem of hot iPhone:
Solution 1 : Avoid sunlight. Unless you’re somewhere extremely hot, this may be a bit extreme. But if you’re on holiday then keep the iPhone in a bag.
Solution 2 : Avoid playing games for a long time. Games tax the processor, which heats up the device.
Solution 3 : Stop using Bluetooth. Turn off Bluetooth because it provides an additional source of heat.
Solution 4 : Turn off Location Services. GPS is one item that heats up the iPad the most. Turn it off using Settings > Privacy > Off.
Solution 5 : Avoid using Map directions. Using the Maps turn-by-turn direction mode adds a lot of extra heat to the iPhone.
Solution 6 : Avoid charging the iPhone. Charging heats up the device, so avoid charging if you’re in a hot area.
Solution 7 : Turn on AirPlane mode. You can keep the iPhone running cooler in AirPlay mode, which turns off GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi and Cellular data.
Solution 8 : Disable iCloud (Settings > iCloud)
Solution 9 : Please make sure that you are using an original Apple Charger. Sometimes, a faulty charger can cause this issue.
Solution 10 : Lighten the workload on your iPhone as much as possible, so you have to close some apps on your iPhone.
Solution 11 : Check if there are software available for update. Apple periodically releases software updates that address issues that arise, some of which can cause certain apps to misbehave and your iPhone to get hot. To check, head to Settings -> General -> Software Update.
Solution 12 : If steps above are done and the your iPhone’s still getting hot, Reset all settings by heading to Settings -> General -> Reset All Settings.
Solution 13 : If you’ve done all the steps above and your iPhone still gets hot, then you can restore your iPhone. You will backup your iPhone to iCloud, restore your phone using iTunes, and restore using your iCloud backup.
