How to Fix iPhone Volume Decreasing and Increasing on Its Own?

Have you ever encountered a situation where you're watching a video or listening to music using some App and the volume bar of your iPhone suddenly decreases or increases on the iPhone screen without your finger touching it and changing the volume? This issue can be quite frustrating, especially when the volume changes repeatedly on its own. Fortunately, there are several steps you can take to address this problem.

1. Toggle System Haptics Off and On

System Haptics are the tactile sensations or responses that your phone makes whenever you make a system change. Some users have reported that turning off and on the System Haptics resolved the volume fluctuation issue. To do this, go to iPhone Settings -> Sounds & Haptics -> Turn System Haptics off and on.

2. Adjust iPhone volume and Disable Change with Buttons

To adjust the iPhone volume for all sounds and vibrations, go to iPhone Settings -> Sounds & Haptics -> and then drag the slider below Ringtone and Alert Volume. And then turn off “Change with Buttons”.

3. Disable Attention Aware Features

iPhone uses Attention Aware Features to check the user’s attention before dimming the display, expanding a notification when locked, or lowering the volume of some alerts. To avoid the effects of Attention Aware Features, go to iPhone Settings -> Face ID & Passcode -> disable Attention Aware Features.

4. Reset iPhone Settings

Resetting the iPhone settings can often solve various software-related issues. Go to iPhone Settings -> General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone (Reset iPhone in the old iOS version) -> Reset -> Reset All Settings.
