How to fix WhatsApp Crash after iOS 16.4 update?

Several WhatsApp users have reported that the app keeps crashing on their iPhones after updating to the latest iOS 16.4 version. As a result, they are unable to receive WhatsApp messages and calls. Additionally, some users are concerned about losing their WhatsApp data, including chat messages, photos, and videos, since they have not backed up their data. In this article, we will guide you on how to solve this problem.

Step 1: Restart Your iPhone Device

The first thing you should do is restart your iPhone device. If you are using an iPhone X or later, press and hold the Side button and either volume button until the slider appears. Then, drag the slider to turn your device completely off. After your device turns off, press and hold the Side button again. For iPhone 8 or earlier models, press and hold the Top (or Side) button until the slider appears. Then, drag the slider to turn your device completely off. After your device turns off, press and hold the Top (or Side) button again until you see the Apple logo.

Step 2: Export and Backup WhatsApp Data

To prevent data loss, it is crucial to export and backup your WhatsApp data from the current app before taking any further actions. Since the app may not open, you cannot use WhatsApp's built-in iCloud backup feature. Instead, you can use WhatsApp Pocket, which can scan and read all the WhatsApp data mentioned above directly from your iPhone, even if the app won't open.

Download and install WhatsApp Pocket on your Mac or PC. Then, connect your iPhone device with a USB cable and run the WhatsApp Pocket app to scan the device. Select WhatsApp Chat, WhatsApp Media files , WhatsApp Contacts, and more to export, and they will be saved on your computer in HTML files and JPG, MP4, MOV, and other file formats.

Export and Backup WhatsApp Data

Alternatively, you can use iTunes or Finder to backup your entire iPhone device to your computer. Please select the option "Back up all of the data on your iPhone to this Mac or computer" in the Backups tab. However, you cannot view them directly since the entire backup is encrypted on your computer.

Step 3: Delete and Reinstall WhatsApp Application

After exporting and backing up your WhatsApp data, remove the app from your iPhone. Tap and hold the WhatsApp app icon, then tap "Remove App" to delete it. Next, search for "WhatsApp" to find the WhatsApp Messenger application in the App Store. Download and install WhatsApp, then open the app and use your phone number to log in and set up your account. Your WhatsApp application should work normally now.

Reinstall WhatsApp Application

In conclusion, restarting your device, exporting and backing up your WhatsApp data, and reinstalling the app are the three steps you should take to solve the WhatsApp app crashing issue after the iOS 16.4 update.
