Check iPhone storage usage
Before everything starts, you first need to figure out what is taking up your iPhone storage. iOS monitors the storage on your device by analyzing how much space each app uses. Go to iPhone Settings -> General -> iPhone Storage, it will list all installed apps and the amount of storage each one uses.
1. Remove photos and videos
If you turned on iCloud Photos on iPhone, when you delete photos and videos from the iPhone, it will delete these photos and videos from the iCloud and your other devices have iCloud Photos turned on. You need to backup and transfer iPhone photo and videos to the compute or an external hard drive, and then delete them from the iPhone device.
2. Uninstall large app
You can remove some apps that takes lots of storage space. If you change you mind, you can download them again from App Store again. Touch and hold the app on the Home Screen, tap Remove App, then tap Remove from Home Screen to keep it in App Library, or tap Delete App to delete it from iPhone.
3. Clear website data
To clear iPhone website data, such as Safari history and cookies, go to Settings -> Safari, and tap Clear History and Website Data. Clearing your history, cookies, and browsing data from Safari won't change your AutoFill information. To clear your cookies and keep your history, go to Settings -> Safari -> Advanced -> Website Data, then tap Remove All Website Data.
4. Delete message text and attachments
Touch and hold a message bubble, then tap More. Select the message bubbles you want to delete, then tap the Delete button to remove a message. Or in the Messages list, swipe left on the conversation, then tap the Delete button to remove a message conversation.
Go to iPhone Settings -> General -> iPhone Storage, scroll down and find Messages app, tap the Messages app, tap the Top Conversation or Photos, Videos, GIFs and Stickers, Other to remove message text and message attachments.
5. Remove iPhone cache files
Although the official iPhone documentation says that iOS will automatically deletes cached files and temporary files when it needs more space. But sometimes iPhone doesn't delete other and cache files. We recommend using iPhone Cleaner application to manually delete iPhone cache and other junk files to free up those unnecessary data.
