Leica cameras with hundreds of years of history are known for their reasonable structure, excellent lenses and reliable quality. It is also the most popular camera among camera collectors. In this article, we will have a try to recover deleted photo from Leica M 8 and Leica V-Lux 1 camera, to help Leica camera users retrieve their deleted and lost photos.
Leica M series cameras use DNG as raw photo format, Leica LUX series cameras use RAW as raw photo format, they can use JPEG photo format as a common photo format. First, we use these two different cameras to take some raw photos and jpeg photos, and randomly delete four photos of them from the camera. We download and install Fireebok Data Recovery on our iMac with MacOS Big Sur, you can download and install it on a PC or Mac. First, we delete 4 photos from Leica M 8 camera including 2 DNG photos and 2 JPEG photos, and then we connect the Leica M 8 camera with the Mac, or you can remove the SD card from the camera, and then use a card reader to connect to the computer.
Run Fireebok Data Recovery, select the Leica M 8 SD card in the hard drive selection, and click Delete Recovery mode, click Start Scan button.
The scan will be completed in a few seconds, we find the four deleted photos in the product, we can preview these photos. And then select them, and click the "Recover" button to select the computer location where you want to save them. After saving, we can open these photos in Finder, and these recovered photos are the same as the original photos.
Next we delete 4 photos from Leica V-Lux 1 camera including 2 RAW photos and 2 JPEG photos, and then use Fireebok Data Recovery to recover them. Connect the Leica V-Lux 1 camera with the Mac, or you can remove the SD card from the camera, and then use a card reader to connect to the computer.
Run Data Recovery, select the Leica V-Lux 1 partition in the hard drive selection, and click Delete Recovery mode, click Start Scan button.
Fireebok data recovery software also recovered the 4 deleted photos, we select and recover them on the computer, they are also as lossless as the original photos.
It seems that Fireebok Data Recovery software can recover all deleted photos from Leica cameras, but considering that we use data recovery software to recover them immediately after deletion without any new data overwriting, the probability of being recovered is 100%. If the recovery software is used after a period of time after deletion, the possibility of recovering photos may decrease. However, if you cannot use the delete recovery mode to completely recover all the photos, you can still use the deep recovery mode.
