When we delete any picture and video in iPhone Photos application, the deleted picture and video will be moved to the Recently Deleted album and kept for 30 days before deletion. However, if we manually delete pictures and videos from the Recently Deleted album, it will be completely deleted from your iPhone device. Usually at this time, many iPhone users think that it is impossible to recover these deleted pictures, but this is not the case. There are still some ways to recover pictures deleted from the Recently Deleted album.
1. Recover from the iCloud Photos
Usually if you turn on "iCloud Photos", when you delete a photo from iPhone Recently Deleted album, it will be deleted from "iCloud Photos". However, if you have ever turned on iCloud Photos on iPhone and recently turned off iCloud Photos on iPhone. Only in this case, you can recover from iCloud Photos. Visit www.icloud.com/photos with a browser and login with your Apple ID and password, then select iCloud photos and download to your computer.
2. Recover from the iCloud backup
If you turned on iCloud automatic backup, check if your iPhone has iCloud backup before deleting photos. Go to iPhone Settings - > Apple ID - > iCloud - > Back up this iPhone to check the last iCloud backup status.
If your iPhone includes an iCloud backup, you can restore your iPhone from iCloud backup. Before that, you need to erase all iPhon content, go to iPhone Settings -> General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone -> Erase All Content and Settings. After completing the reset, set up iPhone and restore from the iCloud backup.
3. Recover from the iPhone local backup
After checking the iCloud backup, next we can check the iPhone local backup. If the iPhone has ever been backed up with iTunes or Finder on your computer, it will store the iPhone local backup on the computer.
Connect your iPhone with the computer by via USB cable, and click the iPhone icon in iTunes or Finder to access the summary page, it will list the last backup date of this Mac/computer under the Backups tab. And you can click the “Restore Backup…” button to select an iPhone local backup to restore to iPhone device.
After restoring, all iPhone data will be replaced with the iPhone local backup. Whether it is restored from the above iCloud backup or iPhone local backup, all the current data of all iPhones will be overwritten by this backup data. Apart from the photos you want to recover, other app data such as messages, contacts, and all other application data will be replaced with old backup data.
If there is a way to recover deleted pictures only from iCloud and iPhone local backup, other app data on the current iPhone will not be affected, which may be a better way. Here we recommend using the third-party application -Fone Rescue to extract and recover deleted photos and videos from the backup. Download and install Fone Rescue on your computer. If you’re using macOS 10.13 and later, please add Fone Rescue application to the Full Disk access list to get read access to your iPhone's local backup.
Open Fone Rescue application, and select “Recover From iTunes backup” or “Recover From iCloud Backup” tab, then select an iPhone or iCloud backup, and click the “Start Scan” button.
After scanning the backup, and click Photos & Videos tab to check photos and videos in the backup, select photos and videos to export and save.
