We're used to taking photos with the iPhone and sending them to Instagram and other social media and apps, and some people may be concerned about the privacy of photos. They choose to send photos but don't share the location, but each of your photos keeps track of the date, place and other meta data, once you turn on the location services for Camera on iPhone. So we need to remove the date and location from iPhone photos before sharing them to the internet.

View the date and location information of the photo

Here we use the Preview.app on mac to check the the date and location information. When you open a photo with Preview.app, access menu item Tools -> Show Inspector

Select Exif tab, it will display a lot of photo information: such as real photo date, iPhone camera model, pixel dimention and more. And select the GPS tab, you will find the location information.

How to remove the date and location from iPhone photos

In ordr to edit or remove those photo exif and gps data, first we need to download Photo Exifer.app on your Mac.

Photo Exifer allows to view, edit and remove your iPhone photo exif data and also GPS data.When you run Photo Exifer, and connect your iPhone or Camera, it will enter camera mode. Click Open device to read all photos and videos from iPhone device or camera. Double click the photo, you can view all meta date of the photo on the right view.

Select the iPhone photo that you want to modify the date, gps or other metadata and click the Quick Action button, then choose the "Copy exif date to the create date", or "Edit date info", "Remove GPS info" or other menu item.
