1. Retrieve iPhone missing photos after syncing with the computer
When you setup iPhone to sync photos with some photo folders or Photos application in iTunes or Finder(macOS Catalina and later), if you delete these photo folders on your computer or Photos, your iPhone photos will also be deleted the next time you sync with your computer. Or you turn off syncing photos in iTunes or Finder, the synced photos on iPhone will be deleted.
If you find that some photos are lost after syncing with your computer, first you can find them in your computer or computer trash, or find them in the Recently Deleted folder Photos applicatoin.
2. Retrieve iPhone missing photos after changing iCloud account
Some family members use the same Apple ID and iCloud account, which causes photos, contacts, call logs, and more other iCloud content to be synced to other iOS and Mac devices. After they switching to a different Apple ID and iCloud account, some old iCloud photos will be lost. In this situation, do not turn on iCloud photos on the iPhone device before switching account.
If you need to retrieve old missing iCloud photos, go to www.iCloud.com and login with your old iCloud account and password, and access photos, you will see all iCloud photos, and you can download them from iCloud.
3. Retrieve iPhone missing photos after restoring backup
Some IT articles often suggest restoring iPhone from backup to fix some iPhone problems. When you restore backup to iPhone device, all current iPhone content will be replaced with the backup content, such as photos, contacts, messages etc. Some new photos and other new iPhone data that have not been backed up will be lost.
Before restoring backup, we recommend transferring photo and other iPhone data to the computer or other place to save. Or read iTunes backup with Fone Rescue, which is a third-party application can read and extract iTunes backup data, it will prevent the current iPhone data from being overwritten.
4. iPhone lost photos after deleting photos, reseting iPhone
If iPhone photos are lost because of manual deletion or resetting of iPhone. Please check if your iPhone has been backed up before the deletion event. If so, just extract photos from iTunes or iCloud backup with Fone Rescue.
