Apple released their latest phones, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus last year, and with this came the release of the most recent operating system the iOS 8 upgrade. The iOS 8 upgrade makes it possible for iPhones to run more features, as well as run smoother and more fluidly. However, if you are trying to put it onto an older iPhone you may find that it seems to run slow and even crash, so here are some simple and easy ways to speed up iOS 8:
1. Remove unused or unwanted apps
Getting rid of old and unused apps frees up space and this makes a device run faster. It is a simple process. Just long press the unwanted app and when you see the X marked in the top left corner, push it and the app will be deleted.
2. Delete old text messages
Another tip is to get rid of any old and unwanted texts for the same reason. They may not seem to take up that much space, but it is amazing how much better your phone will run after you delete old messages permanently. Be sure to also dump the trash to make sure they are gone for good.
3. Terminate multiple tasks
If you are leaving apps open all the time, this also runs down the phone and makes iOS 8 run slowly. Don’t leave apps running in the background, as it uses up a lot of resources on the phone. It is simple to turn them all off. Just double click “Home” then you will see the list of running apps. Then, tap onto an icon for the app and swipe up to close it.
4. Turn off location services
You should also turn off the running location services on your phone to speed up iOS 8. It makes the phone run slowly or causes it to stutter or lag. Just open “Settings” tap “Location Services” then slide the toggle button left to make it turn off. They can also be turned off one by one if you need to leave one of them on.
5. Disable automatic updates for app
Even though it seems nice to get automatic updates for your apps, it is always running in the background so slows down the iOS on older phones. Turn it off and just update apps manually. Do this by going to “Settings” “iTunes & App Store” then see at the bottom “Updates” under automatic downloads and turn it off to disable it.
6. Use iPhone Cleaner program
You can also download and use the CleanMyPhone program to get rid of junk files and unwanted files that may slow down your phone and iOS8. It gets rid of system & app junk files, privacy data, large files (optional), and more.
7. Turn down Phone Graphics
Yet another tip for speeding up iOS 8 is to turn down the phone graphics option as sometimes upgrading to iOS on an older phone causes the retina display to act up.
