How to Fix Safari Slow Since macOS Sonoma upgrade?

Are you experiencing sluggish performance in Safari since upgrading to macOS Sonoma? If Safari has become frustratingly slow, taking minutes to load web pages or displaying errors like "The operation couldn't be completed," here are some troubleshooting steps to help you address the issue.

1. Monitor Mac Memory Usage

Ensure your Mac's memory is not overwhelmed. Open Activity Monitor application, and check memory usage to determine if any applications are consuming too much resources and slowing down Safari's data for opening web pages. If needed, close unnecessary applications to free up memory.

2. Verify Mac Wi-Fi Connection

A stable and reliable Wi-Fi connection is crucial for smooth browsing. Confirm that your Mac is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network, and consider resetting your router if connection issues persist. Check the power connection, unplug the power from your router and modem, wait for 30 second. Then plug the power back into the router and modem. And then reconnect your Mac to WiFi.

3. Clear Safari Cache Data

Over time, Safari accumulates cache data that can affect its speed. Clearing the cache can help improve performance. Go to Safari settings and clear browsing data, including the cache. By default, Safari doesn’t provide the feature to remove the Cache data, unless you access Preferences -> Advanced -> enable the “Show Develop menu in menu bar” checkbox. Then you can find the Develop in the Safari menu, and choose Empty Caches under the Develop menu.

4. Disable VPN

If you're using a VPN, try disconnecting it temporarily. VPNs can sometimes impact internet speed, and disabling them might enhance Safari's performance.

5. Remove Third-Party Apps and Safari Extensions

If you have quit the VPN and security software and Safari Extensions, it still doesn't work, consider completely uninstalling the VPN or other third-party security software and related files. Use Power Suite - App Uninstaller feature to find all app related files to remove.
