How to batch rename photos within the Photos app on Mac?

Most of camera uses the counter to name photo before importing to Photo application, if you want to search and organize many photos through file names, that will be very difficult in Photos. Is there any way to batch rename photos directly within the Photos app?

When we select photos in the Photos app and click the Info button, we can see that many of the photos' exif metadata is in the pop-up window, some of which are titles, descriptions, keywords, and we can edit and change them. But some metadata such as the file name of the photo does not have editing options.

Especially when we display the file name in Photos, go to Photos menu - > view - > metadata - > select Title. If a photo doesn't contain a title, the photo will use the file name as the photo title.

Obviously Photos app doesn’t provide such features, but fortunately, we can found a third-party application- Photo Exifer, which is a metadata editor for local photos and photo library, it provides the feature to batch rename photo metadata from photo library.

Download and install Photo Exifer on your Mac, if you’re using macOS 10.14 and later, you need to add Photo Exifer to the Full Disk Access list. (Go to System Preference -> Security & Privacy -> Privacy -> Full Disk Access)

Run Photo Exifer and select Photo Library at the top of the window, and it will start to scan and read all your photos in Photos applications. When the scan is complete, select photos which you need to rename in Photos, and click Quick Action -> Rename photo(s) in Photo Library.
