1. Force quit WhatsApp
An iPhone X or later, or an iPad with iOS 12 or later, or iPadOS, from the Home screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause slightly in the middle of the screen. On an iPhone 8 or earlier, double-click the Home button. You'll see small previews of your recently used apps. Swipe left to find the WhatsApp app, and swipe up on the WhatsApp's preview to close it.
2. Update WhatsApp to the latest version
Open AppStore application on the iPhone, and search WhatsApp and tap the update button to upgrade to the latest version.
3. Allow WhatsApp to access iPhone contacts.
Go to iPhone Settings -> WhatsApp -> turn on Contacts for WhatsApp
4. Free up WhatsApp storage
Open WhatsApp application, go to WhatsApp Settings -> Storage and Data -> Manage Storage, and then you can view all WhatsApp medias in WhatsApp chats. And you can access the WhatsApp chat and select media files to remove.
If you want to save all WhatsApp medias before deleting them from the iPhone, you can use WhatsApp Pocket to save all media files, including photos, audios, videos and more file from the iPhone device. Download and install WhatsApp Pocket on a computer, and connect the iPhone device to the computer. Run WhatsApp Pocket to scan the iPhone device, it will list all media files, you can select them to save.
If you need to save WhatsApp medias separately from different WhatsApp chats, click WhatsApp Chat on the left window, and then select a few WhatsApp chats, click Export attachment button, it will save WhatsApp medias in different folders.
