How to fix wrong information in Photos on Mac?

We use Photos application to manage our all photos and videos on Mac, many photos contains photo information, such as the camera shooting date, shooting place and more photo metadata. These information make it easy for us to find them quickly in Photos. But one day if you find hundreds or thousands of photos taken on the date or place information are wrong in the Photos app. How do you quickly correct them in bulk?

First we need to check the photo metadata of original photo, have a try to select a few photos to export them, go to File Menu -> Export -> Export unmodified Original For Photos….

And then open exported original photos with Preview application, go to Tool menu -> Show Inspector -> Exif and GPS tab, you will see the shooting date and shooting place of photos. At this point you know that the photo metadata for the original photo is wrong, or that Photos application display is wrong.

If the photo metadata for the original photo is wrong, we need to change them and import them again, photos will display them normally. If the photo metadata for the original photo is correct, we need to change the photo metadata database of photo application, it will work. Here we download and install Photo Exifer to complete these work, which is a photo metadata editor for local photos and photo library on Mac.

Run Photo Exifer and click Photo Library, it will start to scan all photos in Photos application. Select photos in Photo Exifer, and click “Edit Exif data” button, and select the “edit exif data of original photo” or “edit exif data in photo library” menu item to change photo metadata of original photos and photo metadata in photo library.

In addition, there are many quick actions to copy photo metadata from the original photo to the photo metadata database in photo library. If the photo metadata for the original photo is correct, you can use the action - “Replace photo library GPS info with original photo GPS info
