Usually the file size of most photos is 2~10MB, when we need to send 6~10 photos as attachments in Apple Mail, it may reach or exceed the attachment limit of 25MB and cannot send out. How to reduce a photo to a small size on Mac? In this article, we will show you how to reduce file size of photo in Mac Photos and in Finder.

There are two common ways to reduce the file size of a photo. One is to reduce the size by changing the pixel size of the photo, and the other is to compress the photo without losing any pixels by reducing the file size of the photo. Here are the detailed steps.

1. Reduce file size of photo in Mac Photos

To reduce file size of photo in Mac Photos application, we need to use the export feature. Select one more photos in Mac Photos app, and then go to File menu -> Export -> Export 1 photo…, click the expand button in the Photo Kind, and then select “Low (smallest size)” option in the JPEG Quality, select “Small” (320x240), “Medium” (640x480), “Large” (1280X960) option in the Size.
