Are you having trouble deleting apps on your Mac? Do you see error messages like "You cannot open the application because it may be corrupted or incomplete"? 1. Quit Running Apps
The first step is to open the Activity Monitor, a built-in app on macOS that allows you to view all applications and processes running on your Mac. And then select and force quit applications or background processes that may be related with current app you want to delete. Then try to uninstall the app again.
2. Uninstall Apps from AppStore
If you want to install some apps which downloaded and installed from AppStore, open Launchpad from the Dock, press and hold the Option key, then click and hold any app until the app jiggle, and click the close X to the app that you want to delete and install, and click Delete to confirm.
3. Uninstall Apps outside AppStore
If some apps which downloaded and installed outside AppStore, Launchpad can’t delete them. You can consider using Finder and Spotlight to search the application and application files, it will list some folders and files associated with the application, but they only show files and folders that match the application name. It means that there may be partially uninstalled apps and data that are slipped out.
4. Completely uninstall apps and related files
To completely uninstall apps and related files, you can use an application like PowerSuite, which provides an App Uninstaller feature to scan and search for all application-related files and settings. Download and install PowerSuite on your Mac, open PowerSuite -> and click App Uninstaller, you can choose to scan an app or scan all applications, it will list all application and related document and data, select them and click the Remove button to delete.
5. Uninstall 32-bit apps
If you can’t delete some old 32-bit application, you need to find the application files and related data first. Run PowerSuite application and access App Uninstaller feature, then sort all applications by “From 32 bit to 64 bit” option after the scanning is complete. If the current user does not have read and write access to some application files, please make changes in Finder, or click the Remove button to delete in PowerSuite.
