WhatsApp notifications doesn’t show up until when i open the app after last iOS update. We also recently received a lot of feedback on WhatsApp notification delays.
About iOS Notification Service
If you have verified that your notification settings are correct in both iPhone settings and WhatsApp settings and you do not receive notifications, this is more than likely an issue with iOS 11 version. Because the delivery of notifications is controlled entirely by Apple's Push Notification Service (APNS), and WhatsApp has no way to resolve issues with this service.
If someone sends you a message while you are offline, that message will be sent to APNS to be delivered to your phone. WhatsApp has no control or visibility over the delivery of these notifications. The issue may be presenting itself in WhatsApp, but the issue derives from APNS or the iOS. The problem happens in step 5, when APNS sends notifications to WhatsApp (from the image below).
If your WhatsApp has this problem, your text message or any other app may also have this problem. Although this problem is not caused by WhatsApp, their official documentation also provides partial solutions. The solutions below will contain it.
1. Check your notification settings on WhatsApp settings.
Go to WhatsApp > Settings > Notifications and check that Show Notifications are enabled for Messages and Groups.
2. Check your notification settings on iPhone settings.
Go to iPhone Settings > Notifications > WhatsApp and Set your preferences for Alert style (Banners, Pop-up alert, or None), Badges, and Sounds. If you want notifications to appear when your phone's display is off, enable Show on Lock Screen.
3. Reset All Network Settings on iPhone.
Go to iPhone Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. And enter your password. It will restart your iPhone, and you need reconnect the wifi connection and input the password.
4. Restart Your iPhone.
Long press the wake/sleep button on your iPhone until you see the slide to turn off prompt. Then do as instructed. Wait for 1-2 minutes before putting on your iPhone.
5. Restore the iPhone to factory settings
WhatsApp's support suggests that the solution to this problem is to restore the phone to factory Settings and set the phone up as new.
A factory restore erases the information and settings on your iPhone, so you need connect your iPhone with the computer and make an iTunes backup.
Go to iPhone Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings, And enter your password. It can take a few minutes to completely erase your iPhone data.
