How to transfer or download photos from iPhone or iPad device to Mac? If we need to download photos and save photos to the photo library, we will use the Photos app. If we just want to save photos to Mac Finder or external hard drive, Image Capture application will help us. However, some Mac users report that after upgrading to macOS Big Sur, photos downloaded with Image Capture will not retain the original creation date when downloading to an external hard drive. The photo uses the current download date as the creation date. Don’t worry, we will guide you how to keep the original shooting date of all downloaded photos.
1. Change the Destination location
When you download photos with Image Capture, first download and save them in Mac Finder, not an external hard drive. And then copy all downloaded photos to the external hard drive.
2. Use Photos applications
Open Photos application and import iPhone photos into photo library, and then export original photos to your external hard drive or other place.
3. keep the Creation date with Photo Exifer
