How to retain the original date with the downloaded iCloud photos?

Is there any way to retain the original date with the downloaded iCloud photos? When we downloaded photos from iCloud, macOS recorded the created date as the current date. In fact, each photo contains the original date in the photo metadata which is a part of the photo data. In order to keep the original date, we need to change the created date from the original date in photo metadata.

We recommend using Photo Exifer to batch copy the created date from the original camera date of photos. Download and install Photo Exifer on the Mac.

Run Photo Exifer, and import photos which you need to change the date. Select imported photos in Photo Exifer, and click Quick Action -> select the “Copy camera date to created date” option, then it will work.
