WhatsApp suddenly keeps crashing when you open WhatsApp on iPhone? It just opens and closes immediately within a second and back to iPhone home screen. Why WhatsApp keeps crashing on iPhone and how to fix it? Here are some reasons for the problem and 8 solutions to solve it.
1. Reboot your iPhone device
Restart your iPhone device to reset iPhone cache and iOS errors if they may cause WhatsApp app not opening. Go to iPhone Settings -> General -> Shut Down, then drag the slider. Then turn iPhone back on, press and hold the side button or Sleep/Wake button (depending on your model) until the Apple logo appears.
2. Update WhatsApp
Open AppStore app and search WhatsApp in AppStore, and check if there is a new version of WhatsApp available. If yes, open the App Store app and search for WhatsApp. Then, tap the "Update" button to download and install the latest version of WhatsApp.
3. Delete some iPhone Storage
WhatsApp stores all WhatsApp data on the iPhone local disk, if your iPhone local disk does not have enough free storage, WhatsApp may not be launched. Go to iPhone Settings -> General -> iPhone Storage to check the iPhone usage. Have a try to delete some unnecessary apps, remove some videos, clean up some large apps’ cache data.
4. Free up some iCloud Storage
If you have turned on WhatsApp iCloud Auto-backup in WhatsApp settings, in order to avoid iCloud free storage is not enough to cause WhatsApp data upload fail and WhatsApp can’t be launched. Go to iPhone Settings -> Apple ID -> iCloud -> Manage Account Storage, to check the iCloud usage. Have a try to delete some iCloud data if there is not enough iCloud storage space.
5. Export and backup WhatsApp data
Before clearing WhatsApp old chats and WhatsApp cache, we need to export or backup WhatsApp data. If you can still backup WhatsApp with in WhatsApp Settings -> Chats ->Backup, tap Back Up Now to complete the iCloud backup.
If not, download and install WhatsApp Pocket application on your computer, and then connect your iPhone with your computer, open WhatsApp Pocket to read all WhatsApp chat messages and other WhatsApp contacts, WhatsApp media files from iPhone device directly, and then export and save WhatsApp data using WhatsApp Pocket.
6. Remove WhatsApp old chats and cache file
Some WhatsAp group chats may contain lots of messages and media files, have a try to remove them. Open WhatsApp application and tap the Chats tab, swipe left on the chat you want to delete and tap More > tap Delete Group -> Delete Group.
7. Reinstall WhatsApp application
Go to iPhone Settings -> General -> iPhone Storage -> Access WhatsApp -> tap Delete App, not Offload App to remove WhatsApp data. And then download and install WhatsApp in AppStore again.
8. Restore iPhone
Backup your entire iPhone to the local computer or iCloud. And go to iPhone Settings -> General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone -> Erase All Content and Settings, And enter your password. It can take a few minutes to completely erase your iPhone data. And then setup your iPhone, and choose to restore from your iPhone backup to restore the iPhone device.
