When you delete an application using Launchpad, there is no X in the upper left corner of the application symbol. If you open Applications folder and drag it to the trash, it asks for the password, but it warns that the current user has no privilege to delete the application or its related files. So how to solve an app that can't be deleted on Mac?
If the app is a macOS built-in app, there are only five apps that are installed with the macOS that you can delete: Keynote, Pages, Numbers, GarageBand and iMovie. You can always reinstall them from the Apple Store. Other built-in apps, such as News, Books, Music, TV, etc., cannot be deleted. Even you right click the application in Finder, there is no “Move to Trash” menu item in the right click menu list.
If the app is a third-party app with system read and write permissions, it may have been installed with (root) permissions on older macOS, and some app-related files are system permissions. If you are unsure about this, we recommend that you use the PowerSuite application to scan and read all application-related files.
Download and install PowerSuite application on your Mac.
Run PowerSuite app, click App Uninstaller tab, and then click Scan all applications… to scan all installed applications, or drag an app to uninstall. And then select an app, it will list the application and all application related files, and you can view the location of application related files.
Select the application and application related files, click the Remove button to delete the app.
