Aperture is a 32-bit application that Apple announced that development of Aperture had been discontinued. It is not available on new versions of macOS Catalina and later, when we change to a new Mac, we need to transfer the Aperture photo library to the Photos application. According to Apple's documentation guidelines for migrating Photo Library, photos in the Aperture Photo Library can be migrated to the new Photos app normally. But some Mac users reported missing Aperture image information in the transferred Photos app, some photo metadata (such as title not showing and photo creation date being incorrect) aren't migrated. How to solve it?
How to Migrate Aperture photos to Photos application?
Please press and hold the Option key while opening Photos application, and then choose your Aperture library as the picture below. If your Aperture library isn’t listed, click Other Library, then locate and choose your Aperture library. When Photos application shows the photos from your Aperture library, migration is complete.
Or you can open Aperture application on your old Mac, and export all photos and videos in the Aperture application, then import into Photos application.
How to Fix Migrated Aperture photos miss information in Photos app?
Here we recommend using Photo Exifer application which is a photo metadata editor application for local photos and photo library. It supporting batch adding and editing photo metadata tags and photo creation date and other information. Download and install Photo Exifer application on your Mac.
Open Photo Exifer application, and click Photo Library tab to read all photos in Photos application. Select photos and click Quick Action -> Copy photo library file name to photo library title, or Copy photo library camera date to photo library title.
Or select photos and click Quick Action -> Edit Exif data -> Edit Exif data in photo library -> and change the value of the Title filed, then click the Apply button to save changes.
If you want to use the camera shoot date as the create date of photo, then select the "Copy exif date to the create date" menu item. Or select the “Edit Date info” menu item to batch change the camera date and creation date of selected photos.
