Some Mac users have reported that they are looking for ways to remove video metadata title from their MP4 files on Mac. However, despite the various applications that come with Macs, there is no application to view all metadata information nor to control and change video metadata. For privacy reasons, it is necessary to remove the video metadata title or other information before sharing the video on the Internet.
In this article, we will discuss some easy ways to remove metadata title and other metadata information from MP4 and other video files on Mac.
1. Remove or Edit Metadata Title in Mac Photos App
If you use the Mac Photos application to store and manage your video files, you can double-click on the MP4 video file to view it. Then, click the Info button in the toolbar, or press Command-I, and remove or edit the value in the Title field at the top of the Info window. To view the changed metadata title in the Photos app on your Mac, select View > Metadata > Title.
However, it only works within the Mac Photos app and doesn't retain the changed metadata title when you export the video outside of Mac Photos.
2. Remove or Edit Metadata Title with Media Meta
Another way to remove or edit metadata titles is to use the Media Meta app. This method ensures that the metadata title will not be lost, no matter where you transfer the video because the video metadata is included in the content of the video. Media Meta is an audio and video metadata editor GUI application that can batch edit and change audio and video metadata tags.
Download and install Media Meta app on your Mac. Then, import or drag MP4 files into the Media Meta application, select MP4 files in Media Meta, change or remove the value in the Title field, and click the Save Changes button to save the changes.
If you want to remove other video metadata information, such as GPS information, shooting date, copyright, and description information, select MP4 files in Media Meta and click Quick Action > Remove metadata of selected media(s).
