How to view and check iPhone backup data before restoring backup?

To avoid iPhone data loss when we update to new iOS, or we needs to transfer old iPhone data to a new iPhone. Before the everything is start, we will make an iPhone backup with iCloud or connect to the computer with iTunes(or in Finder in macOS Catalina). Once the exception is coming, you can use iPhone backup to restore. But there is a question, when you need to restore the deleted photos or other items on iPhone, how do you know the last iPhone backup if contains deleted items?

In addition, if you do know that the last backup contained deleted items, how to keep new iPhone data that is not backed up on the current iPhone when restoring the entire backup to the iPhone. If you have ever confused about this issue, this article will provide you with solutions.

 

1. Check your iPhone backup date

 

If you don’t know if the iPhone backup contains deleted items, the date of the iPhone backup will tell you when the last backup was made.

View the iCloud last backup date: Go to iPhone Settings -> Apple ID -> iCloud -> Backup, you will see the Last success backup: [backup date]

View the iTunes last backup date: Open iTunes application -> Preferences... -> Devices, all iTunes backups are displayed in the list, you will see the date of the Last iTunes backup.

2. View your iPhone backup data

 

If you can view all iPhone backup data before restoring, it will help you to make a decision on whether you need to restore the backup.

View iCloud backup content: Go to iPhone Settings -> Apple ID -> iCloud -> iCloud Storage -> Backups -> Tap your iPhone backup, you will see which application data this backup contains.

View iTunes backup Content: We can't view the iPhone on the computer directly, here we use the third-party application -Fone Rescue to view iTunes backup. Download and install Fone Rescue on the computer

Run Fone Rescue and select Recover from iTunes Backup mode, and select an iPhone backup to click the Start Scan button.

After backup scan is completed, view and save iPhone backup data.

3. Save new iPhone data not currently backed up before restoring

 

If you still worry about the current iPhone new data will be overwritten by the iPhone backup, you can extract and save them before restoring. Connect your iPhone with the computer by an USB cable, Download and install Fone Rescue on the computer.

Run Fone Rescue and select Recover from iOS Device mode, and click the Start Scan button.

It will scan the whole iPhone data, then it will display all iPhone data after the scan is complete, select the iPhone new data not backed up to export them to the computer.
