How to Clean, Speed up and Revive Your Mac OS X

Sometimes, unnecessary and unwanted programs or items can slow down your Mac. It is irritating when you have to wait for a long time to open a program. To solve this problem you will have to clean up Mac. This can be done by a number of ways that are stated below.

 

Before you start to clean up Mac, the first thing you have to do is back it up. To backup the data in Mac, plug in the external drive and then run the Time Machine.

You should uninstall the apps that you do not need anymore. These apps will just crowd your Mac and slow it down. So if you do not need any apps, then uninstall it quickly. It might be a good idea to use PowerSuite for this task. Click App Uninstaller tab and select the app you want to uninstall, delete them by clicking the remove button.

Some programs might automatically start up after you boot up your Mac, which will make it slow. So, to speed up Mac all you have to do is choose the system preferences, then go to users and groups and click the login items tabs. Then you will see the list of different apps and programs that will automatically start after the booting of Mac. Then uncheck all those programs and apps that are unwanted and unnecessary. Or list all startup applications and service with PowerSuite -> Startup Boost feature.

Some programs and apps take up more resource than others. You need to identify those programs and apps and if possible stop using them. You can identify these kinds of resource hogging programs and apps by opening the Activity Monitor.

You can also use PowerSuite to scan all your drives in Mac and show you the programs and apps that are occupying your drive space unnecessarily. However, it does not delete those contents. But, there are some utilities that will scan, show and delete the unnecessary contents in your Mac.

You should also scan your hard drives through in-built disk utility program and repair it as well. This is a lengthy process so you will have to be a bit patient. You should also start to clean your hard drives to speed up Mac.
