When the creation date of some video files does not match the metadata date of the video you actually shot, once you import those videos into iMovie, iMovie 10 will use the creation date in Finder instead of the shooting date in the metadata. However, iMovie 9 used the correct date when arranging the videos in the iMovie Event listing. How to get the correct date or change something to make the imported video has the correct date? Especially if you have thousands of videos, how to batch change them? If you’re experiencing the same issue, this article will provide the solution to solve it.
We recommend using a third-party application Media Meta, which is a video and audio metadata editor for macOS. It can fix this problem with one-click.
Download and install Media Meta on your Mac. Run Media Meta on the Mac, and import the videos you want to make changes.
Select imported video in Media Meta, and click Quick Action -> and select the "Copy Shooting/Recording date to the Creation date" menu item, the creation date of selected videos will use the metadata date of the video you actually shot. When you import them into iMovie again, it will show the correct date of these videos.
In addition, you can use it to change the Shoot Date, Create Date, Copyright, Artwork, and more metadata tags for video and audio files in the display view, and click the Save Changes button to save.
