How to fix Mac Photos can’t export edited photos?

Some Mac users report that after editing the photo exif tags(title, keyword, location info) or editing the photo content (Retouch) in the Mac Photos app, they export the edited photo from Mac Photos(File -> Export -> Export the photos), and the exported photo is the original photo instead of the edited photo. How to avoid this issue, how to keep the changes and export the edited version of the photos?

export the edited version of the photos

When we make changes (edit photos) in the Apple Photos app, the Apple Photos app doesn't write the changes directly to the original photo, but stores the changes in the database. When exporting edited photos from Apple Photos, the relevant modifications are read from the database and then written to the photo to be exported.

There are two situations that can cause the above problem, one is failure to read database changes while exporting, and the other is failure to write changes to exported photos while exporting.

Here we use the third-party application Photo Exifer, which is a photo metadata application that supports editing photo metadata in the photo library. Additionally, it supports exporting edited versions of photos without the Photos app, or exporting original photos with edited photo library metadata.

Download and install Photo Exifer application on your Mac.

Open Photo Exifer application, and then click Photo Library tab to read all photos in Mac Photos application. Select photos that you want to export, and click Quick Action -> Export original photos with all photo library metadata. It will done.

In addition, it also supports editing photo exif data that is not supported in the Photo get info information panel, such as file name, camera and lens information. It can also find and delete duplicate photos in the photo library, find photos with the same file name in the photo library, etc.
