How to Quickly Free up Disk Space on a Mac Computer

Sometimes you won’t even know when you have used up all the space in your Macintosh computer. After all, everyone has a bad habit of storing and never deleting unnecessary data. This might slow your computer or you might have less amount of free space in your computer. So, how do you get rid of these problems? Here is a list of things that you can do to free up space on your Macintosh computer.

Clear browser web data

The browsers contain caches and other space hogging features. You should delete all the browsing histories and cache file in the browser that you use. Here is the Safari and Chrome Cache location: /Users/~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari, /Users/~/Library/Caches/Google/Chrome. Open the Finder, click the menu “Go”->"Go to Folder…" ->enter “~/Library/Caches”

Delete the old downloads files.

If you have some ancient files and data in Downloads folder, then be free to delete them. You might have some old installation packages, zip files, videos etc. So, select all of them and delete them. You should also clear your Trash regularly. Normally, people tend to trash their files and forgetting about clearing it. So, to free up some space you should empty the trash from time to time.

Uninstall unnecessary applications

If there are some unused apps, then you should uninstall them. Most of you have the habit of download apps from app store and after getting bored from that app you just forget about it. These apps will just hog your space. So, it is best to delete them. And some app contains lots of document and data, so you need to uninstall the whole app itself and other app data. Here we use PowerSuite -> AppUninstaller to remove all app data.

Delete duplicated files

There is no cut file menu in macOS Finder, there will be many duplicated files in different folders after we use copy and paste operation. They will take up lots of disk space, so it's necessary to delete duplicated file from your Mac computer. To find the duplicate, we need to use md5 or other methods to ensure that all duplicate files is the same. Here we use PowerSuite -> Find Duplicate Files to clear them.
