iPhone Message shows phone numbers instead of contact name

Today when I opened the message application on my iPhone, I found that all contact name are disappeared instead of phone numbers after updating iOS 13/13.1. And when I open Contacts to make sure all contacts appear as expected there. But I found some contacts were lost for some reason. Go to iCloud Settings -> enable Contacts, but it still not working. How to solve the issue? This article is the answer.

 

1. Restore Contacts from iCloud server

 

Open the browser and visit www.icloud.com a computer, and login with your apple id and password. Then Go to Settings -> Advanced -> Restore contacts -> select contacts and click Restore button.

2. Restore Contacts from a backup

 

If you ever backed up your iPhone with iCloud or iTunes before the lost case, you can choose to restore the whole backup to iPhone. If you don’t know if the old backup contains the lost contacts, you can use Fone Rescue to view the backup before restoring to iPhone. Download and install Fone Rescue application on the computer.

Run Fone Rescue application, and select Recover From iTunes Backup or Recover From iCloud Backup mode, and select a backup to scan, then click Contact & Message & Call log tab -> Contact, you can preview all contacts information in the backup. Select and export contact records.

3. Restore Contacts with Fone Rescue

 

If you don’t make any backup before the deletion case, the only way is to recover the lost contacts directly from the iPhone device. Fortunately, Fone Rescue can help you to recover deleted or lost contacts from your iPhone.

Connect your iPhone with the computer by a USB cable, then download and install Fone Rescue on a computer. Run Fone Rescue application, click Recover From iOS Device tab, then click Start Scan.

Wait for a while for to complete the scan, then click on Contact & Message & Call log tab -> Contact, deleted and lost contact information will be marked the yellow color, select them to export to vcf file format.

Alternatively, if you remember any keywords in the deleted contact information, you can search for deleted or lost contacts using the hex preview feature.
